Windhoek

HIGHLIGHTS: Windhoek

Welcome to Namibia’s capital city, where the geometric shapes of modern buildings bears down on German colonial architecture of a more elegant era. Incongruous in a sun-drenched land, the steeply pitched roofs are a legacy of Europe’s snowy climbs. Windhoek has a “continental” atmosphere that can be ascribed to its historical architecture back to 1890, as well as its cuisine, culture, dress codes and educational institutions. The city has an active and lively community of art and crafts people.

Galleries where exhibitions are held, commercial galleries, craft co-operatives, shopping complexes, a large number of curio shops and features of historical interest are contained within the city. Our rich mix of cultural diversity ensures something special for every mood. Windhoek is usually the first city guests experience when arriving in Namibia but also often the last destination before embarking on their flight back home. Other than excellent cuisine and shopping opportunities, various excursions are offered in and around the city, taking in a variety of options and catering for every need.
