HIGHLIGHTS: Damaraland

TRACKING THE ELUSIVE DESERT ELEPHANT: A guide, accompanied by a tracker, will take you out into the surrounding farms in the morning and / or in the evening in search of the elusive desert elephants. You travel in 4x4 vehicles and can actively take part in assessing the age of the tracks found and the direction the animal is moving in. Once found, you have excellent opportunities to capture the elephants on film (sighting not guaranteed), while you also see some of the other animals found in Damaraland while tracking the elephants.

TRACKING THE ENDANGERED RHINO: The excursion is done in an open 4x4 game drive vehicle, while you may also be required to do some walking. The guide and game trackers, will take you into the area of Damaraland where the chance of seeing the rhinos is best. They will track the rhinos from the vehicle using telemetry. Part of the tracking will take place on foot, with the possibility of a 1 to 3 hour walk in between. It’s a full day activity leading along bumpy roads and rocky terrain walking, thus not advisable for the fainthearted.
