About us l Sense of Africa's Fleet Sense of Africa's Fleet Sense of Africa owns and operates its own fleet of vehicles that range from the luxury Land Rover Discovery and 7-seater Microbusses to custom-built 22 to 44-seater coaches. All custom built coaches are designed to suit the Namibian road conditions, both in their configuration as well as their construction. Due to the road conditions, more sturdy truck chassis with front diesel engines are used. Although slightly more noisy, due to the position of the engine, this ensures that the vehicles are not affected by dust and particles thrown up on gravel roads, and therefore substantially more reliable. As the fibreglass bodies, usual in new bus construction, would not last on our roads, and the problems of body fatigue occasioned by continuous travel on gravel roads, we have a metal body constructed over the chassis in line with our own design. Vehicle height, large sliding windows and reclining seats ensure that our guests enjoy the best possible view and photographic opportunities, but can also enjoy a comfortable rest when travelling longer distances. For the guests’ convenience, all vehicles are fitted with air-conditioning and an intercom system. ![]() Sense of Africa Workshop Sense of Africa operates its own in-house fully equipped workshop. The workshop consists of a 400 square metre garage with a pit, special oil divider drains and a wash bay with high pressure cleaners. Two qualified diesel mechanics, assisted by 4 mechanics ensure that all vehicles are meticulously maintained and serviced. Maintenance is done on a preventative, rather than reparative basis. Owning and servicing our own fleet enables Sense of Africa to set the standard it requires of the vehicles it uses. The workshop is also always available on stand by on a 24-hour emergency basis. Our vehicles are available not only for our tours but can also be hired for private charters on request. |
