WATERBERG PLATEAU PARK:
Waterberg Plateau Park
The Waterberg rises like an enormous castle
out of the surrounding bushveld plains.
Several fountains surface at the base of the
perpendicular cliffs - giving rise to the Afrikaans
name Waterberg. The park was established
to breed rare and endangered species such
as Sable, Roan, Tsessebee, Black and White
Rhino as well as the only population of footand-
mouth free buffalo in Namibia. The Cape
Vulture colony is also of interest as it represents
the only breeding colony of this species in the
entire country.
